Artists and Venues Coordinator

Artist & Venue Coordinator – NZ Fringe Festival
Location: Wellington, NZ

Contract: Fixed-term (Festival Contract)

Do you love connecting people, supporting artists, and making creative events run smoothly? The New Zealand Fringe Festival is looking for a friendly, organised, and proactive Artist & Venue Coordinator to be the go-to person for our incredible community of artists and venues.

About the role
You’ll be at the heart of the festival’s artist and venue experience – guiding them through registration, making sure they have the right information and support, and helping match shows with the perfect spaces. You’ll also assist with artist development programmes, funding schemes, and special festival events like the Programme Launch, Opening Gala and Fringe Awards.

It’s a people-focused role that blends communication, admin, and on-the-ground event delivery. No two days are the same, and you’ll be talking to everyone – from emerging artists to venue managers, from festival crew to sponsors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage artist and venue communications throughout registration and festival delivery
  • Coordinate artist services, passes, and information for the printed programme
  • Support artist development workshops and funding programmes (including Kākano)
  • Match artists with venues and ensure contracts, details, and logistics are in place
  • Assist with festival events, sponsor activations, and merchandise placement
  • Maintain up-to-date festival systems and records (Eventotron, Airtable, Google Drive)
  • Provide friendly, informed support to artists, venues, and audiences during the festival

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Can keep track of details while managing multiple deadlines
  • Is comfortable with event administration and systems (bonus if you know Eventotron or Red61)
  • Has experience in event delivery and understands artist and venue needs
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and thrives in a busy festival environment
  • Loves being part of a collaborative, creative team
