Something Delicious is Coming to Fringe

As a gluten free baby I can understand the apprehension to all things cake. I've spent the better part of the life I remember turning down birthday cakes and wedding cakes and shared-work-lunches cakes but here, for three nights only, there's a cake we can all eat!

CAKE! A Delicious Late Night Cabaret is setting up home at Fringe at the Gryphon (here after known as FatG) from tonight (16th) through to Saturday 18th.
Design - Mata Freshwater and Christine Luiten

Co-producer and one of FatG's fabulous venue managers Christine Luiten says, "the aim [of CAKE! Cabaret] being to showcase tantalizing tastes of Fringe artists performing both at the Gryphon Theatre and around Wellington. As well as these fabulous artists CAKE! will also showcase the immense amount of talent that Wellington has to offer." And boy oh boy does Wellington have a lot of talent to offer.

Okay, some of you are cringing.

It's because I'm performing in two of these cabarets.

I'm sorry! But it's exciting that we have an opportunity like this this Fringe!

The 3 amazing MC's for CAKE!

For the producers CAKE! seemed the perfect name for their Cabaret considering it is Fringe at the Gryphon’s 5th Birthday this year. CAKE! is delicious and a little bit naughty, and word on the street is that the bespoke Fringe at the Gryphon cupcakes, thanks to Sweet Bakery and Cakery, will be available to purchase (and devour) every night of the CAKE! Cabaret.

This is one birthday not to be missed here at FatG with the CAKE! Launch Party and FatG's 5th birthday party all happening last night. There were buskers, roving performers, cupcakes and the yearly surprise that is Garage Project's 'Beyond the Pale' Fringe Beer.

CAKE! A Delicious Late Night Cabaret runs from Thursday 16th - Saturday 18th February, with all performances beginning at 9:30PM. CAKE! will feature 18 incredible acts from stand up to drag to sword wielding belly dancers to everything in between. So basically there will be something for everyone!

If you're keen to check out what all the fuss is about, tickets can be purchased at or at the door.

CAKE! And FatG are co-produced by Aaron Blackledge and Christine Luiten accompanied by a fantastic team of terrific technicians, dynamic designers, and visionary volunteers. Make sure you like FatG on facebook and follow them on twitter.
