The Ballad of Paragon Station

The Ballad of Paragon Station

Hester Ullyart

Don't miss this five star mesmerising hit, in Wellington for a limited run!

'What keeps you awake at night, Stacy Kay?'

First class contemporary storytelling about four nocturnal strangers on the search for connection.

'The Ballad of Paragon Station' voices a contemporary generation’s struggle for identity, intimacy and escape in a run down port city at night in this lyrical and electric visual treat. Funny, dark, poetic and searingly honest, featuring lyrical, shapeshifting characterisation from writer/performer Hester Ullyart.

Inspired by Dylan Thomas’s ‘Under Milk Wood’ and Nan Goldin's 'The Ballad of Sexual Dependency', Ullyart and Mahaffey chronicle the lives of four restless souls through shapeshifting interweaving character, projection and monologue performance.

'Playing a cast of characters, Ullyart's portrayals contain a raw energy which crackles and fizzes. It might be profane, earthy and noisy, but it is a performance containing a strong vein of poignancy and hard-edged lyricism.' Stuff, NZ
